One of the worst hospital experiences I’ve ever had I don’t usually write reviews, but this place pushed me past my limit. During a previous stay, I was handled aggressively by a doctor during an “examination” that felt nothing like medical care. I was half‑asleep, not informed, not asked, and definitely not treated with basic respect. It left me shaken and in pain, and the staff who saw it happen basically shrugged and called it “unusual.” That alone should tell you something. Fast‑forward to today: I showed up for an MRI appointment I’d been waiting for, only to be told it was cancelled because I “didn’t pay 48 hours in advance.” No one ever told me this was a rule. No message. No call. Nothing. When I said, “So I came all the way here for nothing,” the attendant just said “Yes, please move aside for the next customer” in the rudest tone imaginable. Zero empathy. Zero professionalism. Just get out of the way. Between the terrible communication, the complete lack of patient respect, and the unsafe behavior I experienced from a doctor, I honestly don’t know how this place is allowed to operate the way it does. I wouldn’t wish this experience on anyone.
The stuff at the Station and Administration was very rude & arrogant, and shouted at me when you just needed answers. The A&E wasn’t very full went there with my head injury, 3 hours waiting. I have to cancel and ask for the refund. Very disappointed
I understand the staff are busy, like any public hospital in the world. But it is impossible to talk to anyone about the state of my family member in the hospital. We have no updates. And when I calmly and politely asked, "Sorry for bothering you, I know you are very busy. When would be a more convenient time for me to ask you some questions about my family member?" they laughed in my face and replied, "Never!" Their attitude is repulsively rude, and they treat patients like cattle, like another cow on the farm. I understand your job is hard, but complaining about how busy you are while my family member is very sick and I can't get any updates is mentally very hard and inhuman. There's a serious lack of empathy. Change jobs if you can't have basic human decency and empathy.
Good service for specialist outpatient needs. Although certain racial discrimination persists against ethnic minorities. Best to get a Chinese friend to help or someone who speaks Cantonese. Long queues for accident and emergency, usually takes more than 2 to sometimes up to 4 hours for semi-urgent cases. Since the area serves quite a few elderly patients, getting prompt treatment for elderly people who are not so sick is also long (suggest they consider having a separate elderly patients queue). A bit too cautious and takes a long time to actually get urgent diagnosis for communicable diseases (i.e. Tuberculosis - so that the likelihood of someone transmitting the disease to others is high). In 3 years of going back and forth for treatment, only 1 doctor actually displayed compassion and care to make sure arrangements for surgery was done, greatly appreciate Dr. Katharine Kwong for her concern and effort. Overall, it is hoped that the Hospital Authority consider measures such as relaxing restrictions for foreign doctors' certification to ease the workload of healthcare professionals. The existing backlog is borne by the present staff and affects quality of healthcare. No amount of top notch equipment and world class facilities can replace the human aspect of health care.
