A decent shaded and little hike. Maybe around 200 stair steps one way. Not the best views however.
A lovely little out-and-back walk. Very calm on a weekday early afternoon. Paths were very well paved, lined with stone sides. Rock features were described en route.
Bit of a workout in 34° heat but the views are wonderful, and the walk isn't too long. Easy enough to complete in an afternoon.
A nice activity to do on Cheung Chau is the Cheung Chau Family walk, which covers some nice outdoor grounds on the southeast of the island including a section referred to as the Mini Great Wall. This trail section was constructed in 1997 and is 850 metres long. It starts from near the back of Kwan Yam Beach and ends at a pavilion structure looking at interesting rock structures and the sea. What you find here is a long stretch of granite railing that has been given the unique name of the Mini Great Wall. It covers a particularly impressive area along the coast with impressive views of the sea as well as large oddly shaped boulders which have also been given unique names by the local residents of Cheung Chau over the years. Along the Mini Great Wall, you will find signs with pictures of the various rock structures so you know what to look for. There are a couple pavilion viewpoints along this short hike as well. Overall, this is a fun and easy area to hike and a place that is child-friendly if you want to get out with the littles to enjoy a bit of hiking and spending time in the great outdoors of Hong Kong outlying island of Cheung Chau.
